Skunks and sin

So I was driving to work this morning, praying. I drove past a poor roadkill skunk. Skunkburgers! Yeah!

But seriously, it was one of those roadkill skunks that was one unholy stink bomb. You know the ones...so freaking strong you can taste it. So it struck me that while I was praying, this must be what God smells when we turn our backs on him and sin it up...stink it up. I thought about my great abundance of sins in my very recent past and thought of how it's the same thing as throwing a bunch of smelly dead skunks at His feet. The smell of that dead skunk just kind of brought it home to me in a very small way what our sin does to our Lord.

Maybe think of that next time you are in the near occasion of sin. Do you want to throw a dead skunk at His feet or or lay at His feet a bouquet of roses?
